Prepaid storage
terms and conditions

The following terms and conditions apply to the Term of Years (e.g., 18 years) or Lifetime prepayment options for annual storage fees for cord blood and/or cord tissue accounts.

CBR agrees that annual storage fees will not be charged to a prepaid account for the length of time covered by the prepayment option selected. After expiration of the length of time covered by the selected option plan, if the owner of the newborn stem cells decides to continue storage, annual storage fees will be charged at the rate in effect at that time. For the Term of Years option, annual storage fees will not be charged until the expiration of the number of years covered in the plan.

For the Lifetime option, storage fees will not be charged for the lifetime of the newborn donor. If the newborn donor dies and the newborn's legal guardian chooses to continue storage of the associated newborn stem cells for potential use by other members of the family consistent with applicable regulations, the number of remaining years of storage that will be covered by the Lifetime prepayment option without charge is calculated by taking the average of male and female life expectancies based on the Lifetime Social Security Actuarial Tables (the "Tables") in place at the time of the newborn's birth and subtracting the age at death.

For example, if at the time that the newborn donor is born, the estimated life expectancy based on the Tables is 78 years and the donor dies at age 10, no storage fees would be charged for 68 years after the donor's death. At the end of the 68 year period, if the owner of the newborn stem cells chooses to continue storage, all subsequent storage fees will be charged on an annual basis at the then-current rate on the 78th anniversary of the storage date.

For the Term of Years and Lifetime options: If the associated newborn stem cells are released for treatment, the client is entitled to a refund equal to the prepaid amount less the annual storage fee for each year the unit has been in storage. The annual storage fee equals CBR's non-discounted storage fee at the time of the client's enrollment.

For the Lifetime option: If the donor dies and the donor's legal guardian chooses to discontinue storage of the associated newborn stem cells, the client is entitled to a refund equal to the prepaid amount less the annual storage fee for each year the unit has been in storage. The annual storage fee equals CBR's non-discounted storage fee at the time of the client's enrollment.

Refunds of the prepaid storage fees are not available in any other situation, including, but not limited to, donation of the newborn stem cells, or termination of the account for convenience or other reason.
