CBR's CellAdvantage® System Delivers
Superior Collection, Processing, and Storage

With CBR's Cell Advantage system, every detail of the process has been diligently selected because it is the best technology available for saving these precious cells for your family. The result is industry-leading excellence and an unmatched 99% cell recovery rate. CBR takes every step possible to ensure the largest successful collection and long-term safety and viability of your baby's stem cells.

Highest Cell Recovery—More Cells Lead to Better Treatment Outcomes

Having more cells available for treatment is important if you ever need them because a larger number of stem cells can help you recover faster, experience fewer complications, and, ultimately, increase your chance for survival.

  • Our CellAdvantage system, including proprietary collection kits and superior processing technology, has the highest published cell recovery rate in the industry—99%.
  • CBR's unique system saves 20% more cells on average compared to other common methods. Cord blood volume varies by newborn, and only CellAdvantage is optimized for recovering the most stem cells regardless of the collection volume. With CBR, you can be confident that you will have the greatest number of cells saved from your baby's cord blood.

Collection: Easy, Safe, and FDA-Compliant

Cord blood collection is an easy process that usually takes only five minutes and poses no risk to mother or newborn. After your baby is born, and the cord has been cut, your doctor or midwife will collect the cord blood using your CBR Collection Kit. CBR Collection Kits are the result of a continued focus on quality, are built to FDA and OSHA standards, and are designed to collect as much cord blood as possible for your family. The kit contains everything needed for the collection. All kits are sterile and can be used in cesarean deliveries.

  • Proprietary Technology-Lyophilized (Dry) Heparin
CBR developed a dry form of heparin to use in our collection kits. Heparin is an anticoagulant, natural to the human body, which is necessary to prevent blood from clotting during transport and helps ensure maximum cell recovery for your family. The use of dry anticoagulant instead of liquid is exclusive to CBR and improves our ability to recover every stem cell possible, regardless of collection volume. Compared to the other common anticoagulant used in collection kits, called CPD (citrate phosphate dextrose), CBR's proprietary anticoagulant helps recover up to 73% more cells from small collections.

Processing: FDA-Cleared Technology

CBR's laboratory is the only facility that has been performing the highly specialized process of cord blood cell separation since 1992. Today, we provide clients with FDA-cleared processing technology, distributed exclusively by GE Healthcare®. We process cord blood using the AXPTM AutoXpressTM Platform, the industry's first functionally closed, automated cord blood stem cell processing technology that is validated to process cord blood of any volume. CBR is the first family bank to offer this next-generation technology to families. AXP is also used by the largest public cord blood bank, the New York Blood Center.

Storage: FDA-Cleared Seamless Bags

CBR is the only family bank to offer storage in FDA-cleared, seamless storage bags. Seamless bags, which are created through blow-molded technology, are designed to be inherently stronger than first-generation seamed bags, which are commonly used in the industry. In standard bags, seams are created along the edges of the bag that form potential points of weakness-especially for storage in extreme cold. Additionally, our bags have multiple compartments in order to allow for the flexibility of using the cells for more than one treatment.

Experience: CBR Has More Transplant Experience Than Any Other Family Bank

We have more experience providing cord blood stem cells for use in transplant and regenerative medicine than any other family bank. CBR-stored cord blood has been used by doctors in the nation's leading medical centers including Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, Duke University Medical Center, and many more. To date, all CBR cord blood samples requested for use in transplant have proven viable - the ultimate validation of our collection, processing, and storage methods.

New uses for cord blood stem cells are being discovered rapidly, however banking cord blood does not guarantee that the cells will provide a cure or be applicable for every situation. Ultimate use will be determined by the treating physician. Use in regenerative medicine is still considered experimental.
